The city of Dallas, GA, is a suburban community located about 30 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, serving as the seat of Paulding County. It covers 4.5 square miles of land, home to an estimated population of nearly 14,000 people under the motto, “A Premier Hometown.”
The town of Dallas was first created from 40 acres of land purchased in 1852 for $1000. It was named for the U.S. vice president at the time, George Mifflin Dallas of Pennsylvania. Dallas began to flourish in the late 19th century thanks to new railroad construction and the blossoming textile industry. In 1951, the Town of Dallas officially became The City of Dallas. Today the city is proud to maintain multiple Civil War battle sites and numerous large parks. Popular local events include the Dallas Farmers Market, the Dallas Concert Series, and “Food Truck Friday.”
